東洋エンジニアリング株式会社（取締役社長　細井 栄治、以下 TOYO）は伊藤忠商事株式会社（代表取締役社長COO 石井敬太、以下 伊藤忠商事）と共同で、ウズベキスタンで肥料などの生産・販売を担うUzkimyosanoat社（ウズキムヨサノアット社）との3社間の協力協定書を締結しました。　協定書の内容はUzkimyosanoat社がウズベキスタンで計画するガス関連プロジェクトを中心に将来の投資案件の実現に向けてTOYOと伊藤忠商事が協力するものとなっています。

豊富な資源を有する中央アジアの昨今の地政学的重要性の高まりを受け、日本政府は日本企業の同地域への進出を後押ししています。日本政府に加え多数の日本企業が参加した中央アジアビジネスフォーラムが8月に開催されたことを契機にTOYOと伊藤忠商事はウズベキスタンを訪問しUzkimyosanoat社との協定書を締結し、10月31日に東京で実施されました第17回日本ウズベキスタン経済合同会議の場で文書交換式を行いました。

TOYOはウズベキスタンで1996年に石油精製設備の近代化プロジェクト、1997年にポリエチレンプラントの建設プロジェクトを受注し完工した実績を有しており、今回の協定書締結を受け、ウズベキスタンでの化学産業拡大への協力を通じて同国の発展に貢献していくべく、新規プロジェクトの実現に取り組んでいきます。

--<English follows>--TOYO Signs Cooperation Agreement with Uzbekistan's Uzkimyosanoat

Toyo Engineering Corporation (President and CEO Eiji Hosoi, TOYO) and ITOCHU Corporation (President and COO Keita Ishii, ITOCHU) have concluded a cooperation agreement with Uzkimyosanoat S.A. (Uzkimyosanoat), a state-owned company engaged in the production and sale of fertilizers and other products in Uzbekistan. Under this agreement TOYO and ITOCHU will collaborate on the realization of future investment projects, with a focus on gas-related projects planned by Uzkimyosanoat in Uzbekistan.

In response to the growing geopolitical importance of Central Asia and its abundant natural resources, the Japanese government has been encouraging Japanese companies to expand their presence in the region. The Central Asia Business Forum held in August and attended by numerous Japanese companies as well as the Japanese government officials, provided an opportunity for TOYO and ITOCHU to visit Uzbekistan and conclude this cooperation agreement with Uzkimyosanoat. The agreement exchange ceremony took place at the 17th Joint Meeting of Japan-Uzbekistan Economic Committees on 31 October 2024 in Tokyo.

TOYO has a proven track record in Uzbekistan, having been awarded a project to modernize oil refining facilities in 1996 and a project to construct a polyethylene plant in 1997, With the conclusion of this agreement, TOYO aims to realize new projects in Uzbekistan and contribute to the country's development through cooperation in expanding its chemical industry.
